A practical guide for your Brisbane or Gold Coast move. Start where you are, take it a step at a time, and confirm the details with your removalist.
Get the big things in place
- List what is moving, including outdoor furniture, storage and the garage. Decide what you will sell, donate or leave behind.
- Request a quote with both suburbs, your intended date, move size and access details. Ask what is included and how extra time, travel and special handling are charged.
- Check building rules, lift bookings and loading access. Confirm your removalist booking directly, including the cancellation or date-change terms.
Pack with the other end in mind
- Start with things you use less often. Use sound boxes and keep heavier items in smaller boxes you can handle safely.
- Label each box with its destination room and a short description. Mark fragile items clearly and discuss suitable packing with the removalist.
- Arrange utilities, internet and address updates. Make a plan for children and pets so they are out of the way during loading.
Make access easy
- Confirm your contact person and arrival window with the removalist. Have keys, fobs and any lift-booking confirmation ready.
- Follow appliance manufacturers’ instructions and the removalist’s advice for disconnecting and preparing appliances. Keep food and essentials you need overnight separate.
- Pack a first-night bag: medication, chargers, toiletries, a change of clothes and bedding. Keep documents and valuables with you.
Walk through, then settle in
- Show the crew anything fragile, unusually heavy or difficult to access before loading starts. Confirm where items should go at the destination.
- Do a final check of cupboards, storage spaces and outdoor areas. Follow any agreed property handover arrangements.
- At delivery, check the items and raise any concerns directly with the removalist. Keep the quote, booking terms and receipts together.
